Privacy notice

The details you share help us look after your car, answer your enquiry or consider your application.
Who looks after your information?
Motor Vehicle Services Slough Ltd is the data controller for information we use to run MVS. Company number 17068280, registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is The Garage, Lorne Close, Slough, SL1 2TL.
For customer or privacy enquiries, email MVSFKB@gmail.com, call 01753 577575 or write to the address above.
What we collect and why
- Bookings and workshop work: your name, contact details, registration, vehicle information, service choice, preferred appointment, messages and relevant job records. We use these to respond, arrange work and keep you updated. Our basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or performing our contract with you.
- Cars and parts enquiries: contact details, the item, your question or reservation request, and vehicle details where needed for fitment. We use these to answer you and agree a possible purchase, on the same contract basis.
- Apprentice applications: contact and address details, experience, training, interests, driving licence information and the reference details you provide. We use these to assess your application and contact you, taking steps towards a possible employment contract. Assessing references also serves our legitimate interest in recruiting suitable people. Please make your referee aware of this notice.
- Administration and security: correspondence, transaction and job records, technical logs and network information such as IP addresses. We use these for our legitimate interests in running and protecting the business, handling complaints and preventing duplicate or abusive requests. We retain records required by accounting or other laws to meet legal obligations.
- Optional marketing: only the reminders and offers you choose to receive, using your consent. The booking form has separate, unticked email and WhatsApp choices. You can book without either. Withdraw consent at any time by emailing us or using an unsubscribe option in the message. This does not stop essential messages about work you have requested.
Required form fields are needed to handle that request online. If you prefer, call us. Please avoid including payment-card details, passwords or unnecessary health or other sensitive information in messages.
Workshop photographs and job information may be used to explain findings and document work. Public website photographs are separate from private customer records; number plates should be covered before publication. Contact us if a photograph raises a privacy concern.
How long do we keep it?
Retention depends on what the information is for: whether an enquiry or application is still active, whether work or a sale has taken place, applicable record-keeping duties, and whether records are needed for warranty issues, complaints or legal claims. Information should be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for these purposes. Ask us about the retention of a particular record.
This website does not promise automatic deletion of your enquiry after a fixed number of days. Browser storage has separate, shorter lifetimes described in our cookies and device information.
Your choices and rights
You can ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restricted use or a portable copy where the relevant right applies. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing. You can withdraw consent without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
Email MVSFKB@gmail.com to exercise these rights. We may need enough information to verify your identity. If we need to keep a record for a legal reason, we will explain that.
You can complain to us and to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You do not have to contact us first to raise a concern with the ICO.
